Progress Report Very Good Long General Post On Spirit Attachment/Haunting

I am not 100% sure that my inner conversations with spirits in lower state are really objectively real. I certainly believe it is possible for a person to be haunted and talk to spirits they can't see, who are there all the time.

My "attaching spirits" came when I was in psychiatric hospital. I was in distress, afraid of another patient and I felt a watermelon sized orb 'jump' from that patient into my aura area. After that time I heard a voice of the same ethnicity as that patient who had been near me.

There are other signs, such as, I knew the full name of that patient, and the spirit has the same given name and family name (information I have picked up over the years of attaching).

In the first year I was as if in a dream and accepted the haunting soul as a friend... Bear in mind I had just had a breakdown. Then after that first year, he turned malicious for a reason unknown to me and began to bully me with harsh language.

That was nearly twelve years ago that I was in hospital and this began.

I believe, as many spiritual healers do, that it is possible for people to pick up these orb-souls who are themselves attached to the things of Earth life (in the case of my attachee, cannabis and sexual congress) and who may be afraid to go on (he had committed a crime) and who may or may not be someone with a history that has led them to choose to be psychologically violent (as my attaching ones are).

At present I have this long-standing spirit and one other of two years' attachment and a third that changes completely every few months, as well as transient 'visitors' who come to add criticism or harassment.

I read a long time ago that if these types of being come to you, there are probably three of them at once, and also they are able to come to you in moments of weakness like unconsciousness and after trauma (like for me, psychiatric breakdown).

I had in fact had the sensation of more distant, unidentifiable souls watching over my mind and pushing my thoughts around to hurt me in dark ways for some eight years previous to the intrusion at the hospital. This surveillance began after I recovered from psychotic breakdown in 1999 which was brought on by intensive cannabis smoking, starting after one month and progressing through a total of ten months of intensive use. Drugs, according to the spiritual community, of any kind, whether alcohol or cannabis up to the powerful hallucinogens, can weaken the aura's boundaries and make it permeable to spirit intrusion.

I write this to help others. I don't feel I am breaking any great taboo, because there are many who guide on this subject online, I only write from experience as well, adding what I have known.

I have quite a lot of insight on psychic conflict and dealing with abusive minds without much personal space or distance. It is a daily fight, but now I come to realise that if I fight to defend myself, whether in defending my sense of space inside or my sense of basic comfort, or my self-image, or what appears to be the truth or what is good - if I perform any of these apparently essential functions, I reinforce their reasons to attack and their illusions that lead them to aggression.

This may as well be arguing about the way the moon tastes with someone who thinks it is made of green cheese... I'd like to open up a little door here, and say that all of this is a simple extension of the belief in the persistence of life beyond death, which journey most souls make in a simple fashion, while others after dying seek to stay near Earth out of fear of the Life beyond or confusion as to what happened at death, or out of 'attachment' to Earthly things. Some may have had little spiritual belief or have been less conscientious in Life and so gravitate backwards after their reality suddenly expands at death.

Dying is one thing, it is said that after dying there is a grand spiritual experience, like an encounter with Grace in full. So no need to worry about that. But there is also choice over what happens then. Spirits (people liberated from mortal form) either go up to further evolution or cling to Earth. I believe in universal salvation, so all of Life keeps on moving and changing and growing and becoming brighter and warmer. Every soul finds its way Home. Not a home that exists on Earth somewhere down your street, but a world more perfect and beautiful and joyful that is eternal. Everything changes.

Do I need to write anything about Deity, that is all-powerful and great and good? I believe in a Deity, and would like to know that One better. It is said God's nature is bliss that could be described as like a million pleasures at once, and that God is Love so great that He gave HIs son Jesus to us on Earth knowing that soul was so great he would be killed for that greatness.

What is God's will in haunting, which can seem so confusing? I have to believe that universally, God fully prefers mortal people to be undisturbed by Earthbound spirits. There are complexities of metaphysical explanations as to what is going on, but I think we are guided to health and happiness in Life when there are such conditions. We are not left abandoned to the situation.

Why can I hear intelligent-sounding voices in my brain that have no obvious immediate  physical origin? Astounding. It is called being psychic, in these times. In other words, it is a human faculty to hear the voices of gods and ghosts - we can know Spirit. (Some traditions call Deity "Spirit"). Extra-sensory perception is actually spiritual perception, knowing of a spiritual reality beyond that dense world of the five senses.

In this way, haunting shows us our sensitivity as we are aware of a world beyond that otherwise known.

I have written enough here for now. Thank you for reading, and be safe!

Louis Wain: New Drawing in the New Drawings Section

I had been thinking of making a drawing for Louis Wain’s birthday, which is the fifth of August. Louis Wain was an artist and illustrator who lived from 1860 to 1939 who had some kind of brain condition that meant he moved further away from reality, while still maintaining the ability to create pictures. He drew cats! He must have loved them, because they were I think mainly what he drew. If you look him up there are lots of different images of cats to look at. A strange quirk of fate is that some scientists have lately even put his illness down to a toxic substance that comes from cat ‘excrement’.
Louis inspires me because he made great art works that are wonderful to look at while being mentally/neurally ‘atypical’. He spent a long time in hospital, many years, but continued with his drawing.

“Atypical”. It’s hard to talk about “illness” all the time. I recently realised schizophrenia comes from an underlying brain disorder, so really the way I am is the product of having an interesting brain, scientifically speaking. I still think I am a kind of hybrid of psychic and psychotic. Why not? And if you disagree, well, I’m happy seeming a bit eccentric to you. I recognise that I do get really ill sometimes, but otherwise believe I am spiritually oppressed.

For me it wasn’t feline food waste that made me sick, but cannabis. It changed my brain, mutated it! I have read statistics like this: don’t use cannabis while the brain is still developing, to be safe, which is under the age of 33. If you use cannabis more than about fifty times, you are in danger of developing schizophrenia. If you use cannabis you are six times more likely to get sick with schizophrenia, which tends to develop in about 1% of humans ordinarily. I worry about legalisation, for all the young who will get sick and struggle to come back and suffer, like I have and will. I didn’t know what I was getting into with the drug that cannabis has, and this health problem is very serious. And did you know about neuroplasticity too? Which means that the brain constantly strives to be healthy. And did you know that some people, a significantly large percentage who experience an episode of schizophrenia make a full recovery? It can’t be all bad. I hope to get a lot better and a lot better integrated socially, but I don’t know about being totally trouble free again, for myself. I wish for longevity, to complete this journey. But you don’t know! There’s a lot I would like to do, and I think it would be good to be an old man one day, although there are never any guarantees.

I have hope for psychology and psychiatry, they are making strides in scientific research into schizophrenia, but I still worry about pharmaceutical intervention, which often comes at a cost to our greater health. I don’t know how views of spiritism and those of reductionist science will ever come into balance and support each other; I hope they will, but I don’t yet imagine how they can.

So some science facts back there on cannabis and schizophrenia and the brain, but don’t just take my word for it, if you are curious, go and investigate for yourself, ask questions and look facts up online.

And back to Louis - please check out my new drawings page for an interesting sketch I just made of him including a copy of one of his ginger cats. I was so pleased I put it straight up, although I would like to have another go and put up another one for you all soon.

Have a nice day, and happy surfing of the web today.

Uninitiated Use Of Entheogens and Hallucinogens And Mental Health

I just wrote in the previous post about being ignorant of the full effects of cannabis.

Cannabis does more than give you a pleasing mental sensation, it is a portal agent, it activates and opens the spiritual senses, it awakens soul awareness. Fine if you are a shaman; trouble if you are an unknowing teenager.

As the uninitiated user, you have no existing contact with guides and angels - those soul guardians who guide you through danger to well-being, - and also, not to mention the fact that your ego is unprepared for receiving numerous large spiritual gifts in the form of Divine communion, spiritual euphoria, infusion of understanding and other blessings. You know nothing of the quietness and peacefulness with which you must receive the new influx of energy coming to you, - you know nothing of the subsequent dangers of mental derangement that can follow.

I think the most important thing, in terms of a person's safety, drawing conclusions from my own experience is how spiritually orientated you are before you get into deep water (say, from using cannabis intensively)
An analogy: if someone leaves prison with no goals of how to rectify things and make a new life for themselves, they will likely quickly buckle to pressure and fall into criminality again. Similarly, if someone opens the doors of spiritual awareness, perhaps unaware of the fact, and without firm anchoring in contacts and connections in Heaven with the good spirits there, what will happen? - they will be subsumed and broken by the force of the energy that will come in first to them to fill any vacuums, they will walk straight into darkness and an overwhelming amount of psychic pollution.

The ongoing spiritual threats to one's personal health and safety come from not being securely anchored in contact with good spirits before taking in the shamanic 'entheogen' or hallucinogen in sufficient quantities to lead to a large change in awareness.

The threats to one's psychological health might come from being unprepared for spiritualisation and an upsurge of psychic energy when taking in the shamanic 'entheogne' or hallucinogen in sufficient quantities to lead to a large change in awareness.

Also these substances that transform awareness and spiritualise are likely solemnly venerated by those that use them ritually - it probably does not help matters that other cultures such as mine appropriate them and use them at will and without ceremony. This raises questions on the sacred and the profane, on defilement and violation.
I saw a shamanic healer who released a cannabis spirit entity from my aura, that I was holding captive - presumably a part of me formed during dependence on the plant's 'narcotic' effects. The healer told me the plant spirit was very angry with me, and that I was forbidden by it from taking in that narcotic substance ever again.
- We might not annoy spirits in Heaven by irreverent use of cannabis (but maybe we do), but it seems possible that we can annoy and injure the spirit of the plant itself. This serves to demonstrate that everything has consciousness at some level.
I wonder how much the cannabis plant is suffering in these times, due to dependence and use that in fact leads to a darkening of personal qualities through unconscious psychic opening and overshadowing.

As an example the Wikipedia page on Ayahuasca [Mighty Wikipedia! A frequent source of mine], found here, lists plants used in the Ayahuasca mixture, some of which are purposefully used for their protective qualities. For example:
  • Shiwawaku bark: Brings purple medicine to the ceremony. Provides healing and protection.
  • Camu camu Gigante: Head spirit comes in the form of a large dark skinned giant. He provides medicine and protection in the form of warding off dark and demonic spirits.
  • Tamamuri: Head spirit looks like an old Asian warrior with a long white wispy beard. He carries a staff and manages thousands of spirits to protect the ceremony and send away energies that are purged from the participants.
  • Uchu Sanango: Head of the sanango plants. Provides power, strength, and protection. Head doctor spirit is a grandfather with a long, gray-white beard.
  • Huacapurana: Giant tree of the amazon with very hard bark. Its head spirits come in the form of Amazonian giants and provide a strong grounding presence in the ceremony.
I have boldened and underlined some key phrases in this list of some plants used in the Ayahuasca ceremony, which I found on Wikipedia. Notice the presence of giants and thousands of good spirits! Obviously the shamans involved will work with the strong good spirits of the plants used, and through the age of the tradition, will have built up a relationship with them. They are like energy forms associated with the ceremony that they call on. I read about someone who used morning glory, outside of its native tradition, and came into contact with the spiritual persona of the plant, who welcomed and blessed and healed her (but said also that the way in which she approached the plant before use, which was with reverence, was good, but could have been better). You have to be on the energetic and shamanic end of belief to buy into this if it is not your first hand experience.
The point is that the medicine men who use entheogens and hallucinogens take their spiritual safety very seriously, and work with powerful good spirits to perpetuate their well-being; they also use the substances solemnly and with reverence.

The use of these drugs requires a certain amount of caution to be safe, such as active relationship with celestial guardians, and management of the aura (grounding, 'shielding', and closing down). However, this is not to say that there wil always be risks. The damage done to a person's aura may be cumulative, as it seemed to be with me - for some years I occasionally used cannabis to the point of strong intoxication without spiritualisation or mental disturbance. The dual reputation of cannabis as variously recreational or reverend in nature, depending on one's culture, also attests to the idea that in reality, the drug is not always damaging to the mind. Similarly, people still find reason to argue over whether cannabis use can cause psychosis (not that I have any reason to argue about that, my experience was obvious).

So, in conclusion, please leave this page with the belief that there is reason to at least be cautious with drug use, and that some degree of intiation into the potential effects of some drugs is very important for those who choose to involve themselves with them.

Take Care

I read on the Wikipedia page for Shamanism (found here) that cannabis is used as a shamanic herb (to aid the practitioner in transcendence and spirit contact); it mentions use happens for this purpose in India. This compounded my opinion, and made me think: cannabis, the drug I over-used, - apparently triggering psychosis, and spiritual and psychic awakening, is used by shamans! This again confirmed my opinion that the drug spiritualises. It is not just a 'high', "the hysterical herb" (as it is sometimes known in the Middle East), it bears solemn gifts too. Gifts I was totally unaware of. It's a shamanic herb! It opens you up to the World of Spirit! Not a toy for teenagers, or people who use it dependently.

I suppose that you invite a channel of spiritual energy to open with intensive cannabis use, and for the initiated that energy is unexpected, has nowhere to go, is not integrated, and begins then to contribute to an unsettling of the mind, in fear and paranoia, acting toxically to lead to psychosis.

For me cannabis use for the uninitiated and the young is on the same level as the Ouija board, that spiritualists so often warn people against 'playing' with or using without care and precaution: both Ouija boards and cannabis are very magnetic to spirits, and open a portal to the World of Spirit, resulting in earthbound spirits attaching themselves and inviting disturbance from spirits of 'lower' awareness.

So, I know that cannabis spiritualises, from first hand. Spiritualisation, or spiritual awakening, comes with first hand experiences of Divinity, and with great religious fervour and moral renewal; spiritual awakening apparently also comes with psychic sensitivity, that permits connection and comunication with the Spiritual. I also know that Sadhus (holy men) in India use it to get closer to God. Now I also know that it is used by shamans to assist in their opening up to the World of Spirit - and this just confirms how powerful the herb is. Here I am lamenting my former ignorance of cannabis' solemn properties, source of so much pain and trouble, and am recording my surprise at the fact that cannabis is used as a shamanic aid to transcendence, and the latter fact just confirms why I got into trouble.

Cannabis Use And Schizophrenia

I would like to make a note about cannabis use and schizophrenia. I mentioned in an earlier post that, without any doubt at all, smoking hemp caused me to become ill. I don't really have any expertise in this matter beyond what happened to me, but I disagree with those who say smoking hemp is not dangerous. However, how dangerous is it? Some people use it regularly without developing schizophrenia, while others such as myself are not so 'fortunate'.

Check out this page for more information: http://www.schizophrenia.com/prevention/streetdrugs.html .

It's clear that a major factor in mental health for cannabis users is their age - regarding myself, I was at a trigger point smoking hemp intensively at the age of 18. I will never smoke hemp again, and I wouldn't advocate its use among teenagers or young adults for the very grave reasons of protecting their health, but I do believe it can be used responsibly and enjoyably. I know some of my family members would be incensed by me writing this, knowing what it has done to my Life, and by association theirs, but I stand by this - a kind of modified neutrality. Yet next to the age factor there is also a genetic factor - so if there is a history of schizophrenia in your family, find another way to relax and enjoy yourself and explore your humanity.

PS I believe that teenage drug use comes down to being accounted for by the general emotional health of our society - the more freedom we can give young people, and the more fulfilled and happy they are, the less likely they will be to seek freedom, feeling and joy in uncontrolled drug use. [You will notice that I use the term 'uncontrolled drug use' above; I believe that responsible use of some drugs (the less addictive ones) is possible, for example in psychedelic therapy and indigenous use of some hallucinogens]. I think the education system could be vastly different, where it is compulsory, to allow children to participate willingly and happily, and the immediate knock-on effect of this is in the way they choose to spend their time once they gain independence, whether at 14 or 18 years old. Because young people must eventually gain independence at 18 or so - and then how well fitted are they for this? Healthy adult individuals are those who have not been repressed in their freedom (so they do not then go off the deep end on gaining independence), and who have had fostered within them an active sense of discernment of their own; they feel in command of their lives, they have direction, and they have already found great fulfilment, independently and with the help of their guardians. Not to blame the parents or anything... [or the school system, the government, etc. ...]
